About Future Openings

In July 2015, RP Databases Ltd launched a subscriber based online product called RPBi Openings, focusing on future UK hospitality site openings & developments and news relating to these openings. Hit badly by covid, subscriber numbers dropped and the service was discontinued in the summer of 2023. 

At the start of 2025, as the UK's hospitality industry slowly returned to a sense of normality, a number of requests were received from previous subcribers asking us to consider relaunching a Future Openings service. 

As a direct result, in October 2025, RP Databases Ltd launched a service offering subscribers a weekly spreadsheet update (on a Monday) of future UK hospitality site openings from the previous 7 days.

For the remainder of 2025 and into the first half of 2026, as subscriber numbers increased steadily, strategically it became clear that the future openings service offered needed it's own identity, rather than sitting, in effect, as an add on to RP Databases Ltd. This dovetailed with the owner's intention to diversify RP Databases Ltd.

Accordingly Future Openings launched in September 2026, with Kate Sharkey at the helm.

Having worked with RP Databases Ltd since 2018 and also on RPBi Openings, Kate was in a great position to take over the management of Future Openings.

Looking forward to the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, the business strategy is simple. Increase subscriber numbers by supplying quality market intelligence on future UK hospitality site openings.
